Xfx 630i Driver For Mac
Hey all, I tried to sum up the problem in the title because I'm about to assault you with a wall of text, mind you, it's relevant IF you do care to help me. Basically, ever since I installed 15.49 (and also tried 191.07 both paired with 15.49 as well as solo), my Nvidia Control Panel no longer opens/works at all. There's a busy mouse icon for a second and that's all, no errors.just, nothing. I'm not the bomb or anything but I know what I'm doing.just in case you don't believe me, I'll post all the steps.
Until a while (a month/3-4 weeks) before 7 was released I was using RC. While using the RC I used the drivers supplied on the CD which are 16.08 for Vista 64bit. I decided finally to go ahead and update the drivers for the board/card so I could see if there were any changes or iron out any kinks for my final 7 install so I installed 15.xx, I forget, 15.42?
Or 3x I don't remember. Anyway, they didn't work and I thought I may need to pair it with the newest display driver so I did that, I think it was 186 or 190 at the time.again, I don't remember the exact numbers. It didn't work. By didn't work, I mean it shows what it does now, a busy/working mouse pointer for about a second and then nothing.Nvidia is infamous for 'dirty' drivers, so I decided to do a clean install of all the nvidia drivers in the system. I uninstalled them all, turned off Windows Update Automatic Driver search, reboot, went into safe mode and used Driver Sweeper to rip away any remnants of nvidia drivers. To be sure I went into safe mode again to check and nothing was there. I go back into Windows and freshly install the Nvidia drivers.reboot and bam, STILL doesn't work.

I pair it with the newest graphics drivers and still, it doesn't work. So I go through all of. again. Uninstall, reboot, safe mode driver sweep, reboot, safe mode check, reboot back into Windows and install the graphics drivers first this time. It doesn't work so then I install 15.xx without the drivers but it's still a no go.

At this point I'm kind of steaming and thinking to myself that maybe the RC is missing something from the final.for now, the problem wins. Windows 7 is out, and I get it, and I do my normal thing.
I wipe my drive and I put it on. I make sure the PC is offline, as I don't like it updating or installing drivers from WU. I turn off the feature. By now 15.49 is here and I'm feeling happy because nothing can go wrong, right? I set the system up, install 15.49 and yep, doesn't work. I don't like to give up, so believe it or not I did. again, of course after testing it paired with 191.07.
And so, I'm left with the incredible urge to start pulling my hair. Ironically, the drivers and Nvidia Control Panel software shipped with the CD do still work. It opens and some settings work. However, some video applications refuse to work using this old driver (boxee and guild wars for example).
Opscan 4u driver for mac pro. Also, the Resize Desktop setting doesn't work. You can adjust it, but it doesn't work when the setting is applied. If there's any other information you need, let me know.

I tried to be as thorough as I could be. I'd also like to know if anyone else using this board is having this problem here.

Well, I decided to try XFX and after 2 intelligent responses from one tech support guy, I've been switched to another who is either completely ignoring the previous notes or is not really interested in helping. Any suggestions or anyone encountering anything similar? I found out that my bios had an update and am now running the newest bios for the board. That didn't help at all though (I knew the chances were very slim).

Daniel I may try to give them a call but that may not work either. Any help in getting this working would be greatly appreciated. Well after no help from XFX and the responses going from every few days to almost a week between each reply, I tried Nvidia forums where people have also posted this problem. The only fix for now is to go allllllll the way back to the 178.24 Geforce driver. So, for any unfortunate souls with a Nforce 630i 7100 chipset, if you can't load your Nvidia Control Panel after you install 7 64bit, do this: Get 178.24 from Nvidias site, you'll have to do this by going into the archives of the Geforce 7 chipset software. Get the one for Vista 64bit. Get the newest nforce claimed to be compat.
With the 630i. Make sure your Windows update doesn't install drivers automatically for the time being. Install the newest nforce first, DO NOT install the video driver. Install 178.24 for Vista 64 bit. It should work.
Note that this driver is not as optimized for 7 as the newest Geforce driver, so if you're using this board for any gaming, you may run into problems. But for those of you, like me who are using the board in a HTPC, or maybe everyday computer and need video controls etc, you def. Need to have access to the Nvidia Control Panel, and for now this is your only hope.
